Experiment 2 - Final Images

5 Significant Images

The medium texture is applied to the stand at the west side of the station.  This stand is made by using detail elements extracted from the original 3D model of the parallel projection. It acts as a median between the railway and the outer frame of the stop.

The light texture is applied to the shade cloth under the frames. The shade cloth itself is not the main part of the architecture however it is a non-neglectable element added to the stop because of its functionality.

The dark texture is applied to the walkway on the pedestrian overpass. The texture congruent with the dark frame of the pedestrian overpass, which makes the surface become the material, face and structure of the overpass.

Experiment 2 - Lumion Week 2 & Two Design Concepts for the Stop

Sketch up to Lumion

Based on sketch:

From 3D Model to the light rail stop:

The rectangular prism in the middle represents the light rail and it is surrounded by the two components. One of the components evolves into a hollowed-out ring (which is the basic part of the overpass) and is developed into a cylinder. This fits Toyo Ito's design concepts, making the surface as the element of design, as well as material, face and structure. Also, the shape is developed and transformed through the interactions with people who are involved in the project.

The other component is rotated and replicated by its centre point to create a frame for the light rail stop. This fits into Luis Barragan's design concepts, the use of right angles and create space within these shapes.

Together, the two architects' design concepts develop into the theme of my light rail stop: technology. The technology of evolving and transforming that forms the basic idea behind my design. Everything happens within the frame of technology, the light rail and the people who interact with the architecture.

Experiment 2 - 12 Axonometrics Week 1

Luis Barragan

Wall thickness, colour, scale and solar dynamic are focused in his design.

Spaces built with a subtle metaphor immersed around the meaning of life.

'I always used low forms and permanently worked with right angles.'

Toyo Ito

The surface, as the element of design, itself is the material, face and structure all at once.

'Architecture tends to be too conventional and is often out of touch with time and social context, we must be sensitive to the air of the era and society.'

The shapes are developed, transformed and metamorphosed through the dialogues and interactions with people who are involved in the projects.
